Cardigan Welsh Corgi

Originally herding dogs, capable of controlling cattle by nipping at their heels, the Corgi is an active, intelligent, hardy and capable little dog.

Both Welsh Corgi varieties share a common ancestry. They were divided into Pembroke and Cardigan varieties in the mid 1930s. Of the two, the Cardigan type is considered the older variety.

The Cardigan Corgi is somewhat larger and has more permitted coat colours than the Pembroke type. He sports a flowing, fox-like tail along with slightly larger, wider set ears and rounded feet.

The Cardigan Corgi, while still an active and capable worker, is somewhat more calm and restful than his Pembroke cousin.
