A tall, strikingly elegant, thoroughbred dog with distinctive coloration and light amber to grey-blue eyes, the Weimaraner is a multi-purpose Hunt, Point and Retrieve breed from Continental Europe.

Less often seen than his short, sleek coated relative, the long-coated Weimaraner is no less impressive.  Both varieties possess a character and temperament which sets them apart from many other gundogs.

Capable of tracking and holding at bay large game such as boar and deer, as well as having the ability to find, flush and retrieve smaller fur and feathered game, the Weimaraner was also used catch and kill predators and to defend house and home.

The Weimaraner is a powerful and able hunting dog with a strong protective instinct. Intelligent, stubborn, strong willed, possessive and demanding, while certainly charming he is a challenge.
