Irish Water Spaniel

Tallest of the spaniels, the Irish Water Spaniel is an ancient breed, credited as a foundation for many other popular breeds of dog. He himself, owes much to the Poodle, the genetics of which contributed to both his intelligence and his coat.

Although named and show as a spaniel, the Irish Water Spaniel works in field trials as a retriever.

The Irish Water Spaniel is an affectionate, loveable and entertaining family dog with an exuberant nature and an active mind. He revels in company and positively thrives when kept occupied. A natural, instinctive sporting dog, with the versatility to adapt to many forms of work.
