Shetland Sheepdog

The cheerful, affectionate and active little Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie, was, as his name suggests, developed in the Shetland Islands off the north east coast of Scotland.

The herding instinct remains strong in Shetland Sheepdogs. Like many other intelligent breeds, the Sheltie needs early and ongoing socialisation as well as daily mental and physical stimulation, without which undesirable behaviours can develop such as nuisance barking, phobias and nervous aggression.

An excellent watch dog, playful and trainable companion, and affectionate family member, the Shetland Sheepdog thrives on companionship and love.
