Lhasa Apso

A hardy little dog originating from Tibet where conditions at high altitudes can be harsh, the Lhasa Apso is a likely descendant of the Tibetan Terrier. His dense double coat is both insulating and protective, the fall of hair over his eyes guards against wind, dust and snowy glare.

An indoor guard, employed by monks and nobles as watchdogs in temples and monasteries, the Lhasa Apso's warning bark would alert to the presence of intruders. As a breed they remain alert and watchful today.

A strong-willed, independent and often stubborn character the Lhasa Apso is nonetheless very loving and affectionate with his family and friends. Despite his size he will happy walk for miles over any terrain.
