Kerry Blue Terrier

The rustic, Irish breed loves water and the great outdoors, the Kerry Blue is is a spirited, determined but adaptable breed with a soft, silky, non-shedding coat.

Originally bred to control vermin such as rats, rabbits, hares, badgers otters and foxes, the Kerry Blue later found work as a herding and guarding dog, although in more recent times it is more usually kept as a companion dog.

The coat is the key feature of the Kerry. It is soft and wavy with no undercoat. The texture is similar to that of fine human hair and like human hair does not shed but continues to grow throughout the year means the Kerry Blue requires very regular grooming and clipping.

Kerry Blues have always been loyal and affectionate towards their owners and very gentle towards children but are often intolerant of and aggressive towards other  animals including other dogs.
