Irish Wolfhound

Largest and tallest of the hounds, the quiet and easy-going Irish Wolfhound is rough-coated, muscular and graceful Greyhound-like breed.

The gentle Wolfhound we know today descends from warrior hounds, used in battle to haul men from horseback or chariots,  and also used to guard livestock or property as well as to hunt wolves, boar, deer and elk.

Modern Wolfhounds are large, kindly, tolerant dogs, gentle by nature, who enjoy the comapny of other dogs and their human family. They need companionship and do not enjoy spending extended periods of time alone.
