Ibizan Hound

Among the most ancient of dog breeds, it is thought that the Ibizan Hound dates back to the Phoenicians and that they were used for hunting by the Pharaohs of Egypt. This is a very versatile breed, being used to hunt, point and retrieve. Ibizan Hounds will retrieve game live to hand, and despite appearances are quite "soft mouthed" not unlike some gundogs.

The Ibizan is a gracious and kind natured dog that needs an active life to remain healthy and happy. Ibizans are known for their ability to jump 5 foot fences with ease.

These intelligent hounds and can learn quickly, but they'll become bored if training is repetitive. Ibizan Hounds are sensitive dogs and do not respond well to harsh training methods or loud, intimidating household environments.
