The unmistakeable Puli is an intelligent, companionable character with a friendly disposition and trainable nature, highly valued by shepherds as a nimble, hardy working dog and companion.
His naturally corded coat, required to withstand harsh weather conditions as he worked herding flocks, requires a considerable amount of care and attention. Cords begin to develop when puppies reach 6 to 10 months of age, and can take around 5 years to grow long enough to reach the ground.
Extremely energetic and active dogs, the Puli is not a breed to be left to his own devices all day. They very much need to be involved in day to day family life.
