Giant Schnauzer

The Giant Schnauzer was developed to be an intelligent, versatile, bold, composed, reliable, good-natured dog, with a dense weather resistant wiry coat. They have been employed as police dogs, search and rescue dogs, sniffer dogs and also as therapy dogs. Giant schnauzers are definitely not a dog for an inactive owner.

Adults need vigorous exercise, a good long walk or free run at least twice a day is essential, they are also a water loving breed and will jump head first into any body of water to swim and play.

The Giant Schnauzer does not cast or shed its coat, they have to be stripped or clipped regularly, being a 'groomed' breed their coat needs regular maintenance and attention. He likes to be involved with whatever his family is doing, even if its just sitting watching the TV. If left alone without human contact this large, powerful dog will become board, unresponsive and lose respect for its owners, eventually becoming unruly and uncontrollable.
