German Shepherd Dog

Among the most popular and most recognisable breed worldwide, the German Shepherd has excelled in many varied roles since demand for his flock guarding and herding skills has diminished. Along with his long and distinguished service as a police and military dog, the German Shepherd has been employed as a guide dog, sniffer dog and a tracker, as well as excelling in obedience and agility work.

Highly intelligent, self-confident and attentive the German Shepherd thrives on challenging activities and needs to be kept occupied. He requires consistent training and handling from an early age, an under stimulated German Shepherd will soon become bored and destructive. Early and ongoing socialisation, with both people and other dogs, is essential to prevent aggressive tendencies developing.

German Shepherd dogs are naturally protective and territorial, watchful and loyal. Coat length can vary from short to medium.
