Canaan Dog

Feral dogs of the Middle East are ancestors of the Canaan Dog, which remains a free-living 'pariah' dog today and is generally accepted as the National breed of Israel.

An alert and versatile effective guard the Canaan Dog retains many of the characteristics of his wild living relatives including a suspicious wariness of the unfamiliar, a territorial nature and an aggressiveness towards other dogs, particularly those of the same sex.
