Briard

A truly rugged worker originating from the province of Brie in France, the Briard was originally used to both herd and guard sheep flocks.

Fearless without aggression and extremely loyal, the Briard is a lively and intelligent dog which has been bred for centuries to think and make decisions for himself in order to protect his 'flock'.

An instinctive herder, strong and exuberant with a mind of his own and plenty of energy the extrovert Briard requires consistent, firm but fair, training and socialisation from an early age otherwise he can become boisterous and unruly. His long flowing coat requires regular grooming.
