The sensitive and aloof aristocratic Borzoi is not a dog for the masses. A swift and graceful dog, originally developed as a wolf hunter in Russia, the Borzoi is a striking breed.

Undoubtedly courageous, with a powerful chase instinct and typical hound single-mindedness when in pursuit of quarry, the Borzoi is built for speed and endurance. Temperamentally however, they are reserved and gentle, not particularly territorial and possessed with a potential tendency towards nervousness when their personal space is invaded.

Like other sighthounds the Borzoi does not cope well with harsh treatment and will be extremely unhappy if raised voices are a part of their daily life.
