Though sometimes stubborn and strong willed, Border Terriers are, on the whole even tempered, friendly and rarely aggressive. They are good with children, but may chase cats and any other small pets.
The Border Terrier is first and foremost a working terrier, he will willingly become a loving and loyal companion, he will retain some inherent characteristics of his breeding. Bred to help control foxes and other vermin, he is capable of working all day long so finding an outlet for his energy is a must.
Although the Border Terrier is an intelligent breed, they are not always the most obedient dogs. They can be trained to a certain level but will turn a deaf ear if out and about and come across anything they consider to be of interest.
