Australian Terrier

Developed in Australia to control small vermin such as mice and rats using native British terrier breeds, the Australian Terrier is a lively, cheerful, smart little dog with a rugged appearance and a ready-for-anything approach to life.

Spirited and alert with the natural aggressiveness of a ratter they can be dog-aggressive and somewhat bossy, but they are generally very people friendly and have exceptional hearing and eyesight making them an excellent watchdog.

As with most terriers, firm consistent training is a must, this is a self-confident breed which prefers to follow his own ideas whenever the opportunity, or lack of leadership, allows.
