Afghan Hound

Originating in the cold mountains of Afghanistan, where the breed was used to hunt hares and gazelle, the first Afghan Hound dogs arrived in the UK in the early 1900s.

The dignified and unmistakeable style and beauty of this glamorous sighthound combines a silky flowing coat and Oriental expression, with speed, strength and a distinct air of superiority.

The proud, aristocratic Afghan Hound is often considered aloof with strangers but is faithful and affectionate with immediate family. Typically happy and clownish when playing this sighthound has a keen, well developed prey drive and an independent intelligence.
